1. Gangadhar Pandit was the name of his grandfather. He was Delhi's final Kotwal. A few days before the 1857 War of Independence, he was appointed. He relocated to Agra with his wife and four children as the British army started to capture Delhi, where he passed away four years later in 1861.


2. Jawaharlal Nehru attended Trinity College in Cambridge and Harrow as a student. He earned his law degree from Inner Temple. There, he was called Joe Nehru with affection.


3. From January 1934 to February 1935, he was imprisoned, and it was during this time that he authored his autobiography, Toward Freedom. In 1936, it was published in America.


4. In a show of defiance toward the west, he stopped dressing in western attire. Instead, he wore a jacket that became known as the Nehru Jacket. He kept roses under his jacket and used to compete with kids for a rosebud.

5. From 1950 to 1955, he was also nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize several times. Eleven different national and international organisations put forth nominations for him.


6. He was a brilliant student. Although he was a scholar, the pandit moniker was given to him since he was related to a Kashmiri Pandit.


7. He published two books on India and the world: Glimpses of the World and Discovery of India. His vast knowledge of the globe and India is evident in both works. Actually, Glimpses of World History is a compilation of 146 letters he wrote to Indira Gandhi, his only child.

8. At the age of 26, Nehru was married to a 16-year-old Kashmir Brahmin girl named Kamla Kaul. His father was a reputed merchant in Old Delhi. The two tied the knot on February 7, 1916. He passed away from TB on February 28, 1936, in Switzerland.


9. Pandit Nehru was the target of four assassination attempts. First during the split in 1947, second by a rickshaw puller in 1955, third in 1956, and fourth in Mumbai in 1961. He passed away on May 27, 1964, from a heart attack.


10. He disliked travelling with a security guard because it slowed down traffic.
