Facts and features about Quillbot

Welcome to our Quillbot review, a tool powered by AI that can help you paraphrase, check your grammar, and more.

Quillbot is a little different from the many proofreading programmes we have examined. They have additional features that are valuable but possibly intended for a different writing audience in place of a full-fledged proofreading tool.

Quillbot will, nevertheless, be helpful to a certain percentage of the writing community.

So let's get started.

This article will teach you:

  • Quillbot's purpose
  • How to use Quillbot to make your writing better
  • The key characteristics for authors
  • If it's pricey enough

The main purpose of Quillbot has remained unchanged since its inception: paraphrasing. By changing the word order and swapping certain words for others, it paraphrases information using AI.

It has, however, developed into much more than that. The grammar checker, which examines your text for typos, spelling errors, and other grammatical problems, is primarily of importance to us.

But it goes farther than that. The following are some of Quillbot's tools:

  • The tool for paraphrasing
  • an editor for grammar
  • checking for plagiarism
  • All of the other tools are combined by the co-writer.
  • The summary
  • a citation maker

David Silin, Rohit Gupta, and Anil Jason launched Quillbot in 2017. Since then, it has gained popularity as a cheap and effective tool while steadily introducing additional features.

What is the price of Quillbot? Price of Quillbot:

The following levels are available for Quillbot's premium edition:

When payed monthly, $19.95

Semi-annually, at $79.95 ($13.33/month),

$8.33/monthly / $99.95 yearly

Although it is important to note that even certain paid functions, such as the summarizer and the plagiarism checker, still have restrictions, the premium edition gives you access to all of the capabilities. You can't sum up all of the articles at once.

Exists a Free Quillbot Plan?

Quillbot has a free version that is actually pretty helpful. You may use some of the features in the Quillbot free edition, but not the plagiarism detector, and your use is restricted.

But I've already discovered that the free version is sufficient for paraphrasing little passages of text or doing a quick grammatical check on a modest project.

Features of Quillbot: A Complete Overview

It's time to examine each of Quillbot's specific features and determine whether or not they are beneficial to authors now that we have an overview of the programme and a look at the cost.

1. The Paraphrase Generator

The rewriting or paraphrasing tool is comparable to other similar tools used in the field. In essence, it rearranges your text's sentence structure, modifies a few words, and voila! You have "new" material.

If you are concerned about plagiarism, this is helpful for dodging checkers.

Disclaimer: Using a paraphrase tool like this one does not affect the fact that we do not support plagiarism in any form. Instead, if you don't like the way something feels, you may utilise this tool to rephrase it or to repurpose your own material for social media.

It will work if you're writing fiction, but I've found that this is a little less natural than, say, writing a factual piece or an academic paper.

In addition, Quillbot offers a variety of speech patterns from which you may choose, so the paraphraser will adjust to those writing styles. These fashions consist of:

Standard

Fluency

Formal

Simple

Creative

It's not ideal, but it might be helpful when you need to paraphrase or abbreviate a lengthy text.

While this is excellent for rephrasing brief portions, if you're looking for a mass article rewriter or a spin rewriter, you might want to consider using another tool, such as Spinner Chief, WordAI, or Chimp Rewriter.

2. The Grammar Checker

The grammar checker is a fantastic additional resource that authors will particularly value. It is driven by AI, much like the other features, which is helpful when attempting to identify the most typical instances of particular grammatical usage.

When I compared it to ProWritingAid, I saw that they both addressed many of the same mistakes. Quillbot does not color-code the errors based on the sort of grammar you are dealing with, but ProWritingAid did identify a few more. On the other hand, ProWritingAid performed a far better job at describing the specific types of grammar errors I made.

Nevertheless, I applaud the work put into this function. And it continues to be superior than MS Word's built-in systems.

3. The Plagiarism Checker

Online authors and academics alike benefit greatly from the Quillbot plagiarism detector. Any anything that appeared even slightly plagiarised was easily identified.

You may only view 20 pages each month even with a premium subscription. If you only sometimes need this for papers, that's OK, but if you write professionally, it is far from enough.

More pages are available for purchase, but who wants to pay more for something they are already paying for?

4. The Co-writer

You may take all the other tools and combine them into one outlet with the help of the co-writer tool.

It has a simple word processing window where you may compose your article or essay and offers easy access to tools for paraphrasing, summarising, citing sources, and more.

It also has a useful function that lets you save these documents in the cloud.

The research tab, which enables you to look up any topic on the web and summarises each article that comes up for that topic, is another fantastic feature of the co-writer. It's a fantastic method to gain an overview of the subject and perhaps identify some important things to discuss.in an essay or article on the subject.

5. The Summarizer

Another AI-powered tool Quillbot employs to condense articles, papers, or other publications into their main points is the summarizer.

This caught my attention since it can be used to pinpoint the key phrases in any body of writing. Choose the main lines, or write a paragraph that covers everything, to do this.

I'm not sure, though, how important this is for most authors. Even if we must summarise our books for book descriptions, the procedure is rather different, therefore using this text summarizer for this purpose is not ideal.

Furthermore, the free edition of the summarizer has a word restriction of 1200 words while the premium version has a word limit of 6000 words. It's a little depressing that the premium version has any limitations at all.

6. Citation Generator

Another helpful tool is the citation generator, which is especially useful if you're writing nonfiction or an academic article and need to mention your sources.

Enter the book or article you are quoting, choose your preferred citation style, and Quillbot will generate the necessary information for you.

Although handy, there are several free tools available that can accomplish the same task, thus I'm not sure how much this improves the product's total quality. It may, however, be a significant time saver when used in conjunction with everything else.

7. Integrated Thesaurus Powerful AI
When you want to use a different term, it's simple to have a thesaurus on hand. However, this procedure becomes simpler with AI. AI allows you to know which selections are more popular in addition to having a thesaurus.

Your paragraphs will seem more natural and won't repeat themselves as a result.

8. Compare Mode
If you have the premium edition, you may compare several paraphrased versions of your content in order to view multiple instances and choose the one you like.

If you are unclear of the content you receive or simply wish to see additional samples, this is helpful.

9. Extensions
You may download a Quillbot extension for a variety of software programmes in addition to the web-based application, which is essentially what I utilised.

The following products are eligible for extensions from Quillbot:

  • Using Chrome
  • Windows Word
  • Chrome Docs
The Chrome extension is simple and quick to use, and it works with the majority of the online writing tools I use, including WordPress and Atticus.

Positive Qualities of Quillbot
Even if not all of Quillbot's features are suitable for creating long-form material, there were a few I found appealing:

  • The free account is quite useful; I was genuinely surprised at how much I could accomplish without spending any money. The fact that you can do some of it for free is incredibly beneficial because it is difficult to find AI writing tools that allow you to paraphrase or summarise information at any price tier.
  • Once you start using Quillbot, you'll see that it has a simple interface and is really simple to use. It was easy for me to understand what to do, where to go, and how to utilise the tools.
  • There are several helpful features Quillbot offers, even if most of them are not really ground-breaking in and of themselves (especially for academic articles). When considered as a whole, Quillbot could show to be a helpful tool for particular writers.
  • Affordable: Quillbot is still extremely reasonably priced, even when you purchase the premium version. If you purchase the yearly subscription, you may obtain all of the services for less than $10 per month, which is unheard of in this market, at least for AI technologies. There are other proofreading tools that you can purchase for less money (like ProWritingAid on the lifetime price), but Quillbot is a very good value considering how many tools you receive.

Things about Quillbot that I didn't like

Quillbot has a lot of amazing features, however it falls short in a few areas.

A weak grammar checker is undoubtedly the most crucial function for authors, and it regretfully falls well short of expectations. Although it performs a respectable job of identifying mistakes to rectify, its interface is simple and lacks a significant amount of the depth offered by a service like ProWritingAid. More reports and information on the grammar it tests for would be great.

Not good for long-form content: Quillbot just doesn't function well for authors who write novels, which is to say most of us reading this piece. Quillbot is more suited for articles and academic papers, and its target market seems to be students, who often have little resources but nonetheless require reliable document analysis. None of these capabilities function properly if you require them in large quantities due to the word restrictions, even on the premium edition.

Is Quillbot a Good Investment?
Quillbot will be very beneficial for you if you frequently need to summarise particular topics, such as delivering chapter summaries, writing blog post introductions, or summarising academic papers.

The paraphrase tool, for instance, might be helpful if you want to reuse part of your material and restate it without having to think it through yourself. The summarising tool is no different.

ProWritingAid is still my top pick since I greatly like it as a grammar checker and for long-form content requirements.

Quillbot, thankfully, does more than just check for grammar, so authors may still benefit from it. Simply said, we do not advise it for proofreading.
