Reserved Instance

 Reserved Instance (RI) is an EC2 offering that provides you with a significant discount on EC2 usage. When you commit to a One-year or three-year term,

- Amazon EC2 RI provide a significant discount (upto 75%) compared to On-Demand pricing and provide a capacity reservation when used in specific availability zone.

- Reserve Instance give you the option to reserve a DB instance for a one or three term and in turn receive a significant discount compared to the On-Demand Instance pricing for the DB Instance.

* Types of Reserved Instance:

- Standard RI

- Convertible RI

- Schedule RI

Standard RI:

- These provides the more significants discount (upto 75% off On-demand) and are best suited for study-state usage.

Convertible RI:

- These provide a discount (upto 54%) and the capability to change the attributes of RI as long as the exchange results in the creation of reserved instance of greater or equal value.

Schedule RI:

- These are available to launch within the time window you reserved.
